Committee on Space Planning and Space Utilization

Space Request Form

Charge to the Committee

The committee is responsible for reallocation of space, facilitating the development of capital projects, reviewing plans for remodeling, planning for new facilities, implementation of capital plans, and reallocation of exiting space as it is vacated. It will be a part of the effort to recruit and retain students. It can facilitate learning with improved planning and use of current and future academic buildings. It can support our research efforts, which are anticipated to continue to grow. These are some of the highest priorities in our efforts to be a Premier Residential Learning Community.

Here are some of the issues the committee will need to think about as we begin our work.
  1. What are the priorities in terms of reallocation of space?
  2. How centralized should the process of reallocation of space be?
  3. What is the allocation process?
  4. What is the committee's role in the review and prioritization of capital projects?
  5. Should the university be using Schedule 25 for improved use of existing space?
  6. Role in future Campus Master Planning:
    1. Applied Research Building
    2. New Residence Halls
    3. New Technology Building or improved planning for technology applications in existing buildings as they are being renovated.
