"The Orion Society's Forgotten Language Tour is a national tour of leading writers and poets that offers a series of readings, workshops, and discussions that promote nature literacy -- a deeper, more dynamic and creative understanding of our relationship with the natural world -- and offers new ways of envisioning community. Now in its eighth year, The Forgotten Language Tour draws on our country's great barnstorming and storytelling traditions, attempting to bring communities together in the recognition that the health of the human community is inextricably bound with that of the natural world."

For more information, please see Orion's Forgotten Language Tour Page at http://www.orionsociety.org/pages/os/flt/index_flt.html

The Orion forgotten language tour is coming to Flagstaff for three events exploring the relationship between people and western forests. A 7pm lecture at Cline Library will feature presentations by four authors whose work has focused on connections between people and the land: Gary Nabhan, Alison Deming, William deBuys, and Peter Friederici. Nabhan, Deming, and Friederici will be present at a Ponderosa Faculty luncheon earlier that day. The three will also lead a panel discussion for NAU students in the late afternoon on the importance of writing about science.

Flagstaff's Orion Forgotten Languages Tour is sponsored by NAU's Center for Sustainable Environments, NAU's Ecological Restoration Institute, NAU's Program in Community, Culture, and Environment, NAU's Master of Liberal Studies Program, the Grand Canyon Association, the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition, and the Grand Canyon Trust.
