Penny Bonda: The Design of Sustainability

Penny Bonda, popularly referred to as the “mother” of green interiors, works in the field of environmental communications. She is the founding chair of the US Green Building Council Committee for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Commercial Interiors and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Sustainable Design Council, and is currently the co-chair of the USGBC/ASID Green Residential Renovation and Interior Remodeling Program. As the Eco Editor of Interior Design magazine, she is a monthly contributor to their on-line resource, The Green Zone. Bonda is the recipient of the ASID’s 2007 Designer of Distinction award and the 2003 USGBC Leadership Award. She is the author of Creating Sustainable Interiors and the co-author of Sustainable Commercial Interiors.

This event is presented by the College of Arts and Letters Interior Design Program, as part of the One Community Sustainable Living Lecture Series, sponsored by the Masters of Arts in Sustainable Communities, Program in Community, Culture and Environment, Center for Sustainable Environments, and Ecological Monitoring and Assessment Program in partnership with the Coconino County Sustainable Building Program, the Coconino County Sustainable Economic Development Initiative, the City of Flagstaff Sustainability Program, Willow Bend Environmental Education  Center, and Coconino Community College.
