Life in these peaks is young, as they are young. The Peaks are at the southern end of the Rockies and are the southern limit for a number of plant and animal distributions that extend north into the boreal forests of Canada. Plants and animals have moved here from the north, fleeing the encroaching glaciers during the Pleistocene and from the south as the ice ages ended. A hands-on exploration of foraging, gardening, and cooking techniques with Lisa Rayner and Patty West followed.
