Queer and Ally (Q&A)

Queer & Ally (Q&A) Action Research Team is…

A group of students at Northern Arizona University who strive to make a difference in their community through promoting change and acceptance dealing with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and ally community.

Q&A is…

Helping the community to respect diversity through helping to promote change by accepting and supporting members of the LGBTQIA community.

Q&A Projects and Collaborations…

  • The TRANSitions fund:

A newly formed fund for transgender NAU students to aid in covering medical costs associated with their transition. We are working to build this fund through fundraising events, possible partnerships, and donations from groups or individuals.

Q&A recently collaborated with ART Attack to fundraise for the TRANSitions fund.

  •  Ally Training for Flagstaff youth:

We are looking to create networks with Flagstaff high schools and middle schools to be a system of support through ally training, how to respond to bullying around LGBT issues, and to support the creation of LGBT advocacy groups (such as Gay Straight Alliance) at each school.

  •  Ally Training for “high risk” areas on NAU’s campus:

Everyone can be an ally, but not everyone knows how. We will reach out to the campus population, especially the high risk areas that have a history of discrimination against the LGBTQIA community.

  •  Coming out of the Shadows:

As part of Coming Out month, Q&A recently collaborated with the Immigration ART to march in solidarity with undocumented members of the community undergoing their own coming out process.
