e-Notes for April 15, 2009
Vol. 3, No. 4 | April 15, 2009
In these lean times, it's important to consider where you can save money. One way is to cut down on printing, photocopying, and distribution costs. At NAU all faculty have access to a Blackboard Vista course shell, and using the shell to manage documents can cut costs. In the podcast episode Cost Savings (iTunes link), which is part of the podcast series T4: Tuesday Tips on Teaching with Technology, John Doherty and Wally Nolan share tips on how to use Bb Vista effectively to manage your course documents and enhance your instructional objectives.
Tying in the Technology
One way to cut printing costs is to give your students an online syllabus and course handouts. In the podcast episode How Do I Import a Syllabus and Course Handouts into My Blackboard Vista Course? (iTunes link), Sharon Gorman demonstrates how you can add a syllabus and handouts to a folder that you create on the homepage of your Blackboard Vista course shell. For more in-depth information about organizing your course into folders and in other ways, download Organizing Content in Blackboard Vista Training Manual (.pdf).
