Vista Replacement Panel Discussion

Faculty discuss their experiences piloting Moodle and Bb Learn

When: Tuesday Nov. 2nd, 1:00pm-3:00pm
Where: du Bois Southwest Room
What: Panel of faculty who piloted the candidates to replace Bb Vista

Why: An open forum and panel discussion to inform the decision the Provost's Academic Computing Advisory Committe (PACAC) will make in selecting the LMS to replace Vista.

This event is primarily intended for the Pilot Faculty to inform PACAC, but is open to everyone. You may come to listen, question and voice your opinions. The session will be available live through Elluminate and will be recorded for later viewing.

Faculty discuss their experiences using technology in blended and hybrid activities for  courses

When: Friday Nov. 5th, 1:30pm-4:30pm
Where: Cline Library, Room 200
What: Panels and presentations by faculty with a focus on Blended Learning

During the Fall 2010 showcase, NAU faculty will share how they mix technology into their face-to-face classes to invigorate their classes and engage their students. Grade Performance System as a Blended Learning Strategy: A Panel Discussion
A panel of faculty and academic professionals will discuss successful practices the integrated Grade Performance System (a.k.a. GPS) as blended learning strategy.  Some lessons learned and specific strategies will be explored.  Leading the discussion is Mikhael Star of the Gateway Student Success Center.

The Pedagogical Opportunities of Mobile Technologies: iPads, iPods, and Droids in the classroom
Presenters: John Doherty (e-Learning Center) and Kevin Ketchner (Cline Library)
 
In the spring and summer of 2010, the Honors program at Northern Arizona University handed the presenters two iPads. This session will discuss some of the pedagogical choices, skills, and motivation factors choices that using the iPad presumed.  We will also share some learning activities in which a mobile tool was necessary.  We will present some preliminary data polled from students on the use of these tools, and discuss some of our own impressions as to the potential these tools may have.
