Why doesn't my co-instructor or teaching assistant have access to my class shell in the learning management system?

Check the listing for your class in the Schedule of Classes. Instructors and teaching assistants (TAs) must be correctly indicated in the Schedule of Classes to gain access to a learning management system (LMS) shell.

It is important to understand how roles in the Schedule of Classes (SOC) correspond to roles in the LMS:

  • A Primary Instructor in the SOC is enrolled as a Designer and Primary Instructor in the LMS
  • A Secondary Instructor in the SOC is enrolled as an Secondary Instructor in the LMS
  • A Teaching Assistant in the SOC is enrolled as a Teaching Assistant in the LMS
  • A Grader in the SOC is not enrolled in the LMS
  • A Student in the SOC is enrolled as a Student in the LMS
  • An Auditor in the SOC is enrolled as a Student in the LMS

Remember, the Grader role in the Schedule of Classes will be ignored by the LMS.
