How do I install the Java version that works with Bb Vista?

On a Windows machine:

Uninstall all Java versions

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
  2. Select each Java Runtime Enviroment (JRE) and J2SE program and remove them (if there is more than one make sure they are all removed).

Install the correct Java version

The current version of Java should work with Vista. To see what version you have, and to update Java:

  1. On a Windows-based system, select your Start menu.
  2. Select the Control Panel.
  3. Find the Java icon and double-click the icon.
  4. At the General tab, select the About button to open the version information.
  5. To update an outdated version select the Update tab.
  6. Select the Update Now button. The new version will automatically update.

To update Java on a Mac:

  • Go to vista.nau.edu
  • select the Does your browser work with Vista? link.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list, where it says Java Check, and follow the directions to update your Java.
