You may need to create copies of your tests and quizzes to accommodate a differently-abled students. These instructions will walk you through the process.
- Create a duplicate assessment
- In the Control Panel, select Course Tools > Tests, Surveys and Pools
- Select Tests
- Find the test you need to copy, and use its drop-down menu to select Copy; you will now see a second copy of that test (e.g, make a copy of Quiz 1, and it will be called Quiz 1(1) )
- Deploy the test in your course in the same location the original quiz is deployed
- Example: if the original Quiz 1 is deployed in Course Content > Module 1, deploy the copy in Module 1 as well
- Select Create Assessment > Test
- Choose the new copy from the list of tests that have not yet been deployed, then Submit
- Example: if the original Quiz 1 is deployed in Course Content > Module 1, deploy the copy in Module 1 as well
- Edit the Test (rename it if need be, e.g., "Quiz 1 Extra Time", change the duration, etc.)
- Use Adaptive Release to make the test available only to the student who need extra time
- From the test's drop-down menu select Adaptive Release
- In the Membership area, enter the student's UserID in the "Username" field, click Submit
Remember that this will create another column in your Grade Center. You should instruct the differently-abled student to NOT take the original quiz, so that he or she does not end up with 2 grades!
