A question alternative is a way to set up different versions of a question in a quiz or self-test. This allows one student to answer a question about a topic that is worded differently than the wording for another student. To set up a question and its alternative you will need have the alternative question created prior to setting it up as an alternative.
To set up an alternative question:
- From the Build tab go to Assessment.
- In any quiz, select the check box for the question that will have an alternate.
- Select the Add Question Alternates button at the bottom of the list of questions.
- Select the check box of the question that will be the alternative.
- Click the Add Selected button.
- A new Question Set will exist made up of the two questions. There will be a dropdown menu in the assessment for determining how many of the alternatives to be on the quiz. You would normally have one question used in the set.
Note: Both questions will be worth the same points.
