You are frustrated because your students don't complete their out-of-class assignments before showing up to class. You have to spend valuable class time covering basic content instead of engaging in the active learning strategies you intended. You want to hold your students accountable for completing out-of-class work so they are ready to move into higher order activities when they come to class.
If this sounds familiar, this workshop is for you. We'll look at how to intentionally design out-of-class and in-class learning activities and assessments to enable you to use your class time most effectively. Our goal will be to foster greater student engagement in your class. The result will be a better teaching and learning experience for both you and your students.
In this workshop, you will learn strategies...
1) To design out-of-class and in-class activities so that they complement each other and result in more engaging class sessions
2) To incorporate your Bb Learn shell as well as low-tech approaches to encourage your students to come to class prepared
3) To use proven techniques and ideas from your NAU colleagues
