Students and graduates

Announcing Big Changes in Northern Arizona University's Educational Technology Program!

Course Number Changes

500 Level Course Changes
ETC 547 Theory & Strategies in Technology Integration WILL REMAIN THE SAME
ETC 567 Technology, Society, and Education WILL REMAIN THE SAME

One new course ETC 585 Technology Integration in the PK-16 Classroom will replace...

  • ETC 548 Assistive Technology AND
  • ETC 557 Tech Integration in the Elementary Classroom AND
  • ETC 558 Tech Integration in the Secondary Classroom AND
  • ETC 559 Tech Integration in the ESL Classroom

Students who’ve already taken one of the previous courses can use it in their Program of Studies rather than taking ETC 585.

600 Level Course Number Changes

  • ETC 666: Designing Instruction WILL BECOME ETC 625: Designing Instruction
  • ETC 657: Tech Planning and Professional Development WILL BECOME ETC 635: Tech Planning and Professional Development
  • ETC 677: Distributed Learning Delivery Systems WILL BECOME ETC 645: Distributed Learning Delivery Systems
  • ETC 647: Creating Learning Environments WILL BECOME ETC 655: Creating Learning Environments

Students will be able to use the either course number to complete the degree.  In other words, if you already took ETC 677, you will not have to take ETC 645.

Ability to Complete the M.Ed. Degree program in One Year

Starting in the Fall of 2012 ETC graduate courses will be scheduled for 7 week sessions. There will be two 7 week sessions during the regular 16 week traditional semester.   This would mean that you could take two ETC courses during a regular semester, but not at the same time. For example, working professionals who normally take two courses per semester could take one course the first seven weeks and another the second seven weeks of the regular semester – allowing you to still take two courses per semester, but only have to work on one course at a time.   For those who wish a faster track, you could take two courses each seven week session, completing four courses per semester, but still only working on two at any one time.
