Twice per year, The Graduate College e-newsletter lists NAU graduate student accomplishments in its Accolades column, creating a record that lets the entire university community know what excellent work NAU graduate students are doing.
Please take the time to send details of your regional, national, and international awards, grants, scholarships/fellowships, peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and other special recognition since September 2010 to Melissa.Riggs@nau.edu for publication in the April newsletter. Chicago Manual of Style is preferred for bibliography citations. You can send your news at any time up to April 1, 2011.
Graduate students who will finish their degree requirements by May 13, 2011 are invited to participate in the May commencement ceremonies. The May graduation application deadline for graduate students is February 11, 2011. All materials must be in the Graduate College by that deadline in order for

The Office for the Vice President for Research will again be accepting applications for student travel awards. Review the award guidelines. Students can apply for travel funding to attend academic competitions, accept academic awards, or attend a conference and present their work. The spring deadline is March 25, 2011and encompasses travel from April 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011. Awards help to cover travel, lodging and/or conference registration fees.
The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) also funds grad student conference travel. Information can be found on their website. For travel between January 1 and June 30, 2011, applications are due on Friday, February 25, 2011. Applications will be available online on January 28. Recipients will be notified by March 11, 2011.
If you will be graduating this year (May 2011) and writing a thesis or dissertation to fullfill your degree requirements, we encourage you to attend the Timelines and Templates: Thesis and Dissertation Formatting workshop on February 10 from 3 to 4 pm in Ashurst 109.
The information covered in the workshop is also available online for statewide students and others who cannot attend.
Graduate students are invited to submit proposals for projects that support sustainability at Northern Arizona University or in the region. Selected proposals will receive up to $2,500 to execute the project.
The proposal deadline is February 7, 2011. Award notification will be made by March 11, 2011. For further information and application form, click here.
