More Photos from Mainpat

Thanks to Jason Lowry, MA student in sustainable communities,
for sharing his excellent photos!

An older Tibetan man sits on his bed; a prayer wheel and flag are kept close.

At left, a teenage Tibetan stays to take care of his family’s home while the rest are away selling sweaters. The family is extremely fortunate to have a sheet metal roof.

At right, Lama Tashi, one of the primary monks at the monastery, prepares for a
ceremonial farewell event. Behind him is a costume of a snow lion, a creature which
adorns the Tibetan flag.

A cropped version of this photo appears on the cover, but it's such a fine photo, and this woman has such dignity, that it seemed right to show the entire shot here.
