NAU is performing a waste audit of the homecoming game waste stream at 10am on Sunday, October 20, to determine how to reduce our impact on campus and we need volunteers! All volunteers who commit to a 3 hour shift will be rewarded with Dining Dollars.

Have you ever had an idea that could make NAU a more sustainable place? Well, the Campus Sustainability Innovation Challenge is definitely for you. The NAU Campus Sustainability Innovation Challenge, presented by the NAU International House and the Green NAU Energy Initiative, gives students the chance to propose improvements to sustainability on the NAU campus through their original ideas. The Green NAU Energy Initiative will mentor the winning student to develop a proposal.
1st: Mentorship by the Green NAU Energy Initiative; $350 NAU Bookstore Gift Certificate
2nd: $225 NAU Bookstore Gift Certificate
3rd: $100 NAU Bookstore Gift Certificate
The NAU Campus Sustainability Innovation Challenge is open to all NAU undergraduate students enrolled in 12 credits or more in the fall semester. Contestants must be present for judging and the awards ceremony to collect their prizes.
To enter the competition, students must submit their entry forms and project materials by the deadline. Students may apply as individuals or in teams of up to three students. Team members must also be full-time NAU undergraduate students. If it is unclear whether or not you or your team is eligible, your team leader should contact the Program Director for the International House, Dr. Dylan Rust at Dylan.Rust@nau.edu.
By entering in the competition, you acknowledge that Northern Arizona University may use your idea on its campus.
All proposal submissions are due by e-mail at 8am on Monday, October 14, 2013. E-mail all proposals to Dr. Dylan Rust at Dylan.Rust@nau.edu. The written proposals will be evaluated by a panel of judges, and finalists will be notified through e-mail by Wednesday, October 30, 2013 that they should prepare to make an in-person presentation on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Campus Sustainability Innovation Challenge presentations. The event will be held in the Gardner Auditorium in the W. A. Franke College of Business from 5pm to 8pm on November 12th. At the event, students will present their idea in front of a panel of judges. The presentation will be no more than 10 minutes. Powerpoint or Prezi may be used to augment the presentation. At the end of the event, the judges will determine the winner(s) of the competition. For more information visit the Campus Sustainability Innovation Challenge website.
