Dii’go To Baahaane: Four Stories about Water” is a documentary that portrays a four part meditation on the problems faced by Navajo people with drinking water contaminated by uranium mining. The film is mostly in the Navajo language with English subtitles, and reveals the incredible stories of people who are struggling as well as the people who are trying to help. It was developed by the Multicultural Alliance for a Safe Environment, a coalition that represents “communities working to restore and protect the natural and cultural environment through respectfully promoting intercultural engagement among communities and institutions for the benefit of all life and future generations.”
A discussion will follow the film conducted by Robert Tohe from the Sierra Club here in Flagstaff and Petuuche Gilbert and Laura Watchempino who are affiliated with the MASE Coalition. Petuuche and Laura are both Acoma Pueblo and work with the Laguna Acoma Coalition for a Safe Environment.
