The Biennial Colorado Plateau Conference is right around the corner, September 16 – 19 in the du Bois Center on the campus of Northern Arizona University. We would like to take a moment to highlight the Landscape Conservation Initiative’s involvement in the 2013 conference. First, LCI is sponsoring the keynote speaker, Dave Wilcove. Dr. Wilcove is a professor of ecology, evolutionary biology, and public affairs at Princeton University and is the author of No Way Home: The Decline of the World’s Great Animal Migrations and The Condor’s Shadow: The Loss and Recovery of Wildlife in America. He will be speaking in NAU’s Prochnow Auditorium starting at 7pm on Sept 16, admission is free and open to the public, click here for more information.

Following the conference activities on Wednesday, LCI is happy to co-host a reception with the Arboretum at Flagstaff, and the Merriam-Powell Research Station. The reception, at the Arboretum, is scheduled to start at 5:30pm, transportation from, and back to, the conference center will be provided.

The director of LCI and Olajos-Goslow Professor of Environmental Science and Policy, Tom Sisk, will provide the opening plenary presentation on Tuesday. Following Dr. Sisk’s plenary, several members of LCI are presenting their work in separate sessions of the conference.
