Donate to the Dining Scholarship

by Heide Gibson, Assistant Director of Development

Northern Arizona University is recognized as having one of the most innovative campus food service programs. Yet each semester, dozens of students who live on campus and have acute financial need have limited resources with which to purchase a meal plan.

Your support is greatly needed!

In conjunction with our dining contractor, Sodexo, we are now offering a new Dining Scholarship that will address this need and support student success.

Each scholarship awarded for spring 2013 includes 14 meals per week and costs $1,816. Please help us award as many scholarships as possible. Every gift, of any amount, will help provide meals for students struggling to provide for themselves.

Please contact me if you would like additional information on the Dining Scholarship and how you can help with gifts to address immediate needs or to offer endowed support.

Sincerely,

Heide Gibson

Student-Built Bike-Powered Charging Station

Bike-powered charging station

After nearly a year of planning and construction, a small group of dedicated students have completed a bicycle-powered charging station. The station provides a hands-on, interactive way to charge small electronic devices, as well as an opportunity to provide education about electricity. To use the station, all students will have to do is plug in their small electronic devices, get on the bike, and pedal.

The Yellow Bike Program donated the bike, and the Green Fund granted $2,900 to pay for building materials and supplies.

The bicycle-powered charging station is currently located in the engineering building. A dedication ceremony is planned for Wednesday, January 23, from 5-6 PM in the engineering building.
