Family Winter Weekend, February 28, March 1-2, 2014

Parent and Family Services would like to invite you to our inaugural Family Winter Weekend on Friday, February 28, Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2. We can't guarantee snow, but we can guarantee a weekend full of fun, mostly free activities celebrating winter at the Flagstaff campus.

Friday afternoon and evening there will be a temporary ice skating rink and skates available for free skating on campus. Throughout the weekend enjoy the NAU Symphonic band concert, a festival of choirs, movies, Women's Basketball, theatre, and events at the Recreation Center inside the Health and Learning Center. We have also invited Career Services and Financial Aid to provide sessions on Saturday afternoon answer your questions and provide information about their essential services.

The complete schedule of activities is posted on our website. I will also be providing updates on Facebook. You do not need to register for the weekend and many of the events are free and require no reservations. Some events do require tickets which may be purchased through the Central Ticket Office or through the link provided at our website.

We hope to see you at the end of the month for a magical winter weekend at the Flagstaff campus.

Gold Axe Award

It's time to recognize our outstanding seniors with the prestigious Gold Axe Award. This award has been a symbol of recognition at the university since 1933. Each semester, Northern Arizona University and the Associated Student Government (ASNAU) select 40 seniors who have made outstanding contributions to the university in the areas of academic performance, service and extra-curricular activities.

The deadline for submitting the online application for the spring 2014 Gold Axe Award is Friday, February 21, 2014, at 5 PM. This is your chance to encourage your outstanding senior to apply.

Spring Graduation Preparation

It's not too soon to start planning for spring 2014 graduation. All commencement ceremonies will take place on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10. The detailed schedule may be found at the commencement website. Announcements and cap and gown may be purchased through the NAU Bookstore either online or in person. Remind your student to attend Grad Fest at the NAU Bookstore on March 4 and 5, 2014.
