Parent to Parent
by Shannon Clark, Parent and Family Services Coordinator
The spring semester is over! Many students have packed their things and left town, and we have said "congratulations" and "goodbye" to our graduating seniors. Perhaps you are welcoming your student home for the summer. Give yourself and your student plenty of time to adjust to living at home. Remember that your student may have spent the last nine months staying up very late, hanging out with friends, and having all their meals prepared for them.
Talk to your student, be patient, work out the details, and remember he or she is still growing into adulthood.
The Backpack will not be published over the summer, but I'll still be here in the Office of Student Life. I love to hear your comments and feedback. If you have article ideas for next year's Backpack--something you'd like to learn more about--let me know! You can reach me on Facebook or via e-mail. Watch for our first Backpack edition of the 2014-15 academic year in August.
Enjoy your summer and we are looking forward to seeing your student next fall.
The university began summer hours on May 12, which run from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Normal business hours (8 AM to 5 PM) resume the week before fall classes begin, Monday August 18. We will be here all summer to serve our prospective students, summer students and answer your questions.
