PES POLICIES

Payment Options

The departmental charge for most PES classes is $59.00. See class notes on LOUIE. Special classes may be higher. Participants may pay with check or money order in our office and can pay with credit card (MC or Visa) or debit on our website. We cannot accept cash. (There is a $25.00 fee for NSF returned checks.) If you do not pay by the first deadline given, there will be an additional $10 late fee applied to your charge. Students who do not pay their PES charges by the final deadline will be dropped from the class for non-payment. It is your responsibility to verify that the PES 100 class is removed from your schedule. If for some reason the class remains on your schedule, you will receive an "F".

Eligibility

Classes are open to Northern Arizona University students, faculty, staff, and community members. All participants must complete a Health History form before participating. These forms are available from your instructor on your first day. If you are under 18, your parents must complete a Minor Consent form before you may participate. These forms are available in the PES office.

Registration

PES classes may be taken either as non-credit or for one-credit hour. To take for credit, register on the LOUIE system. Students must be enrolled at NAU in order to receive credit for the class. It is the students' responsibility to ensure that they are enrolled correctly. It should appear on your class schedule if you want credit and it should NOT appear on your schedule if you want non-credit.

If taking for non-credit, call the PES office (928) 523-8277 to see if space is still available. Classes fill on a first come first serve basis. If space is available, you must complete a non-credit form available on our website or in our office. If you are enrolling for non-credit, do not sign up on LOUIE.

Registration Deadline

Classes not meeting the minimum enrollment requirements will be cancelled no later than one week before class starts.

Refund Policy

If a PES 100 class is being taken for credit, it must first be dropped through LOUIE before the 14th calendar day from the start of the class. A copy of the drop must be brought in to the PES office no later than the 14th calendar day of the start of the class in order to process the refund. If you are taking the class for non-credit, just be sure to contact the PES office before the 14th calendar day. We will then assist you in completing a check request form. All refunds are done through the Bursar's office and take 2-4 weeks to be processed. All participants, whether taking the class for credit or non-credit, must fill out this form.*

Transfer Policy

If a student wishes to transfer to another PES 100 class, it is their responsibility to log onto LOUIE and drop themselves from their current PES class and add the new PES class. If you've already paid for the first class, your payment will be automatically transferred to the new class. We suggest you contact our office to let us know of the change however, so we make note of the transfer and be sure you aren't dropped from the new class for non-payment. The first transfer is free each additional one is $5.

Invitation to CHHS faculty and staff

To encourage CHHS faculty and staff to participate in health promoting physical activity, we will waive the PES charge of $59 for one PES course per semester for full-time CHHS faculty and staff.
