Friday - [undisclosed location]

Today I woke up, got ready, and then fell back asleep. It wasn’t from sleep deprivation, but because I get these awful migraines when the weather changes, usually before it rains. By the time I woke up from my migraine-coma, my mom had left without me. So basically, I was stuck at the motel all day. My brother, Zach, and his friend, Bert, came into town because my mom’s computer crashed last night, and they came to help fix it.

Nights around here are pretty boring. Like I said before, Infinity let my mom have one of their cars for three weeks while we’re out here. I noticed an auxiliary port inside the arm rest the other day, and wondered if it would work to play my Wii in the car. Since tonight was so boring, it was the perfect time to try.

Bert and I plugged in an inverter, and then the Wii. We could hear the Wii’s music playing but there was no video on the navigation screen. For a very good reason, the Infinity requires the parking brake to be set before video of any sort will play from the auxiliary port. Once we figured that out, we could play all the games we wanted!

We realized this feat could be done with an iPod or Zune too! This prompted Bert to say “Wow, we can really change things. You could go on a virtual date in your car now… you can go to a virtual concert, go virtual bowling, then watch a movie right in your car without leaving your house!”

So here is a fantastic list of the blogs I read on a daily basis that I hope you enjoy as well.

The Big Picture: About 3-4 times a week Alan Taylor compiles a group of large photos about a specific topic and posts them here. There are some amazing images and are usually about current events such as Earth Day or the L’Aquila earthquakes. I usually have a desktop background from one of his image sets.

Photoshop Disasters: So much of the things we see every day are enhanced with some clever photoshop work. With all that touch up, there is bound to be some terrible stuff. This blog does a great job of compiling it.

The Baseball Collector: Even if you’re not a big fan of baseball, Zach Hample’s blog is pretty cool. He travels around to baseball parks, watching games, and snagging balls. He has snagged almost 4,000 already in his lifetime. He’s even doing it for charity this year, and is bringing in quite a lot of money.

Me!: Here’s some shameless self promotion for you. If you can’t get enough of my blogging, and want to hear me whine about my life, or see what I’m up to this summer, you can check out my blog.

I had the opportunity to present some information on video game addictions in my COM 101 class last week. It’s a scary thing, especially when no one really believes that you can be addicted to video games.

Web Resources — The semester is almost done, hurray! Use the internet to your advantage during this busy time. Not sure when your final is?
Dear Baseball,

Welcome back. My winter days have been so very lonely without you. I know how you love numbers and technology, and so do I. So maybe you’re not a big fan of the technology I’ll link today, but I sure love it.

JackCentral.com has another article I found awesome. Super Mario Reloaded is the same Mario you know and love, but armed to the teeth. I’m almost positive it’s an outstanding April Fools joke, but oh how I love to dream.

Speaking of April Fools; Blizzard the genius company behind things like Starcraft and WOW always have outstanding jokes on April first. For instance, the WOW Dance Battle System. Or Starcraft 2’s Terra-Tron. This is the way to do it folks.

Ooooo you might like this one Baseball. Turns out the MLB is bringing out web video like nobody’s business. You can catch most any game, online, anywhere. I love this, since my Mets rarely play in this general area. So you should check it out, maybe you can watch your favorite player hit a milestone.

Thanks for coming back to me Baseball. No more sad nights alone.

Love,
Matt Goodloe

Dear Tuesday,

I love you. You’re not stupid Monday. You’re far enough away from the weekend to not tease me with what Friday might bring. Not to mention you bring me all kinds of tech news and you know how much I love my tech news.

Shaun El-Ters from JackCentral.com brings you his review of Halo Wars. Having played the demo, I’m pretty excited about possibly picking this up. Shaun discusses how it’s a real time strategy (RTS) game, but you’re not getting a RTS experience. It’s a must see for Halo fans, but RTS fans will probably want to skip it. (Plaid should buy me video games so I can review them.)

I hope you didn’t sell your Xbox to Circuit City as it was going out of business. Apparently, they aren’t wiping hard drives. Which means all your info is still on it. SCARY. If you are getting rid of your Xbox, do this: Turn it on, and hit the dashboard button (xbox logo in the center of the controller). Head right to Settings > System Settings > Memory. Then, select your hard drive and hit the “Y” button. The format option will wipe you clean!

You know how I hate being without internet, right Tuesday? Well now I can fly with American Airlines, and still get it. The Wi-Fi does cost almost ten bucks a flight depending on flight miles, but that’s a small price to pay when you can play World of Warcraft at 30,000 feet!

Skype just released an application for the iPhone. I guess it’s buggy. To bad I don’t have an iPhone to test that theory.

Write back soon Tuesday! I’ll see you next week.

Love,
Matt Goodloe

So far they’ve picked 36/48 correct. Not too bad.
