Academic Computing supports a number of statistical programs running on a select number of platforms. The platforms include Unix, Microsoft Windows, and the Macintosh.
The yearly license for the statistical packages runs from July 1st to the end of the next June. During July the new licenses come in and when they are available they are reflected in the ITS Software Store. SPSS has a 30 day grace period and SAS has a 90 day grace period.
Current Versions:
| Product | Version | License Period Covered |
| SPSS | 20 | 2012-2013 |
| SAS | 9.2 | 2012-2013 |
| JMP | 10 | 2012-2013 |
NOTE: SPSS for the Mac will only run on intel based Macs. Not the earlier powerpc systems. License period will be updated each year as soon as the new license is available. SPSS 21 is now available for testing on campus. It is available on the NAUSHARES share as outlined in the registration email that is sent after self-registration for SPSS.
Students may also acquire stats packages for use on their personal machines. NAU offers SAS for student use on the campus license. If students require the use of SPSS for their classes, they may either use SPSS on Jan, Dana, or on one of the ITS lab machines. If you require the program for your personal computer click here . For information on self registering for SPSS/PASW click here (access is only from the NAU domain or if logged into the NAU VPN).
Academic Computing also provides programming libraries that you may use for building custom applications. These libraries are to be used at your own risk. For information on the libraries click here.
If you have any questions regarding statistical processing at NAU, call the ITS help desk at 523-1511.
Academic Computing supports three packages under Windows: SAS, JMP and SPSS.
Academic Computing also supports SPSS and JMP on the Macintosh platform.
GNU has a free replacement for SPSS available under the GNU software license. For more information on the PSPP program go to http://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/pspp.html
