From: John Goodin Subject: Sam Bush discography, 1969-1985(long) All the talk of Sam's great new recording, combined with the holiday break, has led me to dig around and find the disc that has a copy of this discography that I put together a few years ago. It was printed in an issue of the Newsletter of the Classical Mandolin Society of America back, I think, in 1992. It also was posted on bgrass-l around that time. Some comandos who haven't had the pleasure of seeing New Grass regularly throughout the seventies and eighties might be surprised at how active Sam was in the studio in his youth. I'm sure there were other records that Sam played on that I didn't catch. I stopped arbitrarily at 1985 but he's certainly been very busy in the studio since then as well. Sam Bush, 1969-1985: a partial discography. Sam Bush is one of the most prominent mandolin players in the United States. His personal style, which combines elements of bluegrass, fiddle music, rock and jazz, has had a tremendous influence on many mandolinists of the post world war II generation. This list includes all the recordings that I could uncover that Sam had any part of in the first phase of his career. I'm sure that I have missed or overlooked many more. Any and all corrections are welcome and will be greatly appreciated.
