The e-Learning Center helps instructors use technology to create and teach courses. Instructors can schedule consulting appointments with instructional designers, instructional technologists, assessment specialists, and the Creative Design Group to discuss ideas for courses and to get suggestions and training about ways to use technology effectively. To schedule appointments, instructors can contact the instructional technologist or instructional designer assigned to their college or school. Instructors new to NAU or new to online teaching may find the following resource page helpful.
The e-Learning Center's instructional technologists consult with instructors and course developers about the best ways to use NAU's course management system (Bb Learn) and other technology tools. They also help instructors develop a project plan and schedule for creating web courses, and they provide technical assistance and one-on-one tutoring in technical skills. Upon request, they deliver customized training for academic departments. For more information, instructors can contact instructional technologist or instructional designer assigned to their college or school.
Our instructional designers help instructors organize information, develop clear course goals and engaging activities, and implement techniques for encouraging students to interact with the course content, with instructors, and with other students. We also help instructors decide whether online teaching is right for them, and guide instructors in devising assessments to gauge the effectiveness of instruction and the extent of student learning. We also teach instructors how to use assessment tools. See the Assessment page for more information.
The e-Learning Center's Creative Design Group (CDG) offers consulting and production services for graphic design, web design, and multimedia design. Our designers collaborate with instructors to plan and create graphics, diagrams, illustrations, photos, slide shows, animations, audio, and video to enhance course content.
