Google Hangouts is a browser based video chat application tied to the Google+ platform. Google Hangouts allow you and up to 9 of your students or colleagues to participate in a dynamic and engaging live interaction with video, voice, and some really clever instructional applications. Simply start a hangout by adding your students' NAU email addresses. An email message is then sent to your students' NAU gmail account. Your students click onto the invitation, and - voila - you have started a Google Hangout.

Google Hangout is a great tool for small graduate seminars, students' group work, virtual meetings, and more. This workshop will cover the basics of how to get started with Google Hangout, explain some of the pros and cons, and review some of Google Hangouts instructional features, such as:

  • Sharing applications
  • Sharing and editing documents and more from Google Drive
  • Text Chatting
  • Sharing a youtube video
  • And more
