Support Services: Distance Learning
Distance Learning allows students to pursue higher education through alternative learning environments that meet the demands of today's busy student. Distance Learning is flexible, delivered through new and innovative technologies, and allows students to meet their educational goals outside of -- or in conjunction with -- a traditional classroom setting.
The University is committed to incorporating new learning opportunities in its repertoire of traditional learning. With a strong commitment to education, continued faculty involvement, and visionary staff, NAU continues to be a leader in distance learning and is dedicated to helping students meet the demands of an ever-changing world.
Distance learning works with academic units to identify high priority course and program development initiatives, and collaborates with academic units and the E-Learning Center to schedule the development and delivery of Web-based and hybrid courses to support priority programs. Key resources include:
- Instructional resources, including links to policies and procedures documents, human resources forms, evaluation processes, classroom forms and more.
- A Distance Learning Faculty Handbook is sent to all new faculty teaching a class at a local site, via ITV, or on-line.
- The Web Course Development Incentive Policy provides stipends to faculty who create or redesign approved classes for electronic delivery.
