1. The San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, AZ, and Mt. Graham near Tucson, AZ, are isolated mountains surrounded by desert. The plants and animals living on the tops of these mountains are the same as those living in the vast Rocky Mountain range.

Using your knowledge of environmental factors (i.e., the range of a factor in which organisms can survive and prosper), how would you explain the similarity of the fauna and flora of these "mountain islands?" What source did you use for reference?

Policy for citing sources of information: If you used the textbook only, indicate that. If you used a published source other than the textbook, give a full citation in the same format that Ricklefs uses on page 25. If you consulted an "expert," name the person and the person's position which justifies expert status. If you used information from the internet, give the URL. Follow this policy for citing sources of information on all future assignments.

2.Mountain islands in the future.
