In the initial readings on sexual reproduction (Wuethrich; Barton and Charlesworth), the authors had difficulty providing definitive evidence to support their hypotheses of the fitness advantages of sexual versus asexual reproduction.

1. Pick one of the hypotheses discussed in these readings and state it.

2. What does this hypothesis suggest is the fitness advantage or disadvantage for sexually and asexually reproducing populations.

3. What evidence was provided in the readings in favor of, or against, this hypothesis?

4. How would you design an experiment so that you could obtain the evidence you need to support or reject this hypothesis?
