Gender Archaeology: A Bibliography by Kelley Hays-Gilpin and Susan Carroll Roberts draft update for 2001, last modified May 2001 |
This bibliography was compiled and posted with the gratefully acknowledged assistance of Joseph Boles, Margaret Conkey, Carol Kramer, Suzanne Spencer-Wood, Lyn Wadley, and David S. Whitley. References are presented alphabetically by author last name, then date. The bibliography contains most of the references presented in an annotated bibliography by Elizabeth A. Bacus and others entitled A Gendered Past: A Critical Bibliography of Gender in Archaeology published by the University of Michigan Museum of Anthropology in 1993. Please see the original publication for extensive abstracts, more detailed keywords, and critique of many references dated prior to 1993. The following bibliography contains key words to help the user locate material on particular time periods, geographic areas, and materials analyses. The key words "women archaeologists" marks material dealing with biography, equity issues, and career issues. When our original references provided key words, we include most of them. We have also added our own key words, but are still in the process of updating this feature of the bibliography. Any errors or omissions are the fault of the editors. | |||||||
