Undergraduate Research into the Social Psychophysiology of Compassion

Detailed Description of Student Activities

7. National Presentation of Research Outcomes.

In early August, just at the end of our summer internship program, the American Psychological Association holds its annual convention. Psychological researchers from across the U.S. attend this conference, the largest psychology conference in the U.S. with over 12,000 attendees.  Students and mentors with suitable presentation outcomes will submit their results to the APA Convention for the following year for an REU Symposium on Compassion coordinated by the PI. Other prominent researchers in this field will be invited to present as well, so that our interns may associate with important compassion researchers and establish connections for continued research and potential graduate school applications, etc. Additionally, research outcomes will be submitted to other appropriate regional or national specialized conferences for presentations in the research area. Once the presentation is accepted, the student will submit a travel budget to attend their respective conference(s). This culminating academic component of our program will allow students to present their research on a regional or national stage and to hobnob with their fellow scientists.
