COURSE PHILOSOPHY

Theatre is a collaborative art. The more the participants understand about all aspects of the art the greater the potential for creative freedom. All of the visual elements allow us to create and support the environment we see on stage. The mechanisms and techniques of scenery, lighting, props, costumes, makeup and publicity form the basis of a toolbox from which we can draw to control these raw materials.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

1. To understand how all of the visual elements interact to form a unified production.

2. To experience the working process of translating the designer's work from paper to production by participating in the construction process.

3. To understand and become familiar with theatrical terminology.

4. To understand and experience the use of theatrical equipment.

5. To assist in the pre-production and production aspects in all areas of theater.
