pretwinkler Recitals are an exciting part of the Suzuki method. At NAU we have a developed a recital performance pattern of one informal recital the first three Thursdays of the month after group class, and three formal recitals held on the final Thursday of each month.

Both formal and informal recitals allow the child several opportunities:

to play with a professional piano accompanist, even on songs as simple as Twinkle, Twinkle

to practice recital etiquette and play in front of a large audience

to observe other peers performing, hopefully stimulating a desire to excel

to have fun!

At Northern Arizona University, the formal recitals have programs, the children dress up and the atmosphere is that of a real performance. The informal recitals are more for practice, but still include the piano accompaniment.
