Wilhelm Hieronimus Pachelbel 1685-1764

Born in Erfurt near Eisenach (Bach's birthplace and in the same year), Wilhelm Hieronymus Pachelbel studied with his father, Johann. The first printed reference to either Pachelbel is in Mattheson's Ehrenpforte which indicates that Hieronymus took a position in 1706 as organist in Nuremberg (probably his father's post at the Sebalduskirche). Hieronymus published a single portfolio of works (1725) which included preludes, fugues, and fantasias. Bach's "Prelude in B Minor" was formerly attributed to Hieronymus.
