Research Interests

Broadly, I am interested in how ecological processes vary through space and over time in response to changes in climate. Specifically, I am interested in how carbon and energy cycle through ecosystems, and in the mechanisms used by biological systems to respond to physical changes in the environment. So far, the majority of my work has been a combination of landscape and ecosystem ecology, but I am also interested in aspects of community ecology and ecophysiology. My experience to date has been in natural ecosystems, ranging from seagrass beds and coastal oceans to sub-arctic tundra, but I have recently become more interested in urban landscapes. The scale of my work has ranged from the plot-level to the landscape. I believe it takes a multi-scale approach to unravel ecosystem responses to climate change and I am currently attempting to broaden my suite of skills by expanding into regional studies and remote sensing analysis.
