Adams is a remote desktop server that is available for researchers to perform statistical and other analysis on what is termed high risk data. High risk data may be considered any data set that contains sensitive or highly sensitive data. Highly sensitive data may be any personally identifiable information, personal health information, or anything controlled by an IRB, etc.

To utilize the Adams Remote Desktop Server, permission must be granted through the Regulatory Compliance Office. Once access has been granted, you will use a Microsoft Remote Desktop Client to access adams.rc.nau.edu and you will log in with your NAU credentials.

In the event that you are off campus, you will need to first log into the NAU VPN from your local computer. Information on the NAU VPN may be found at: https://nau.edu/its/VPN/

You may also be required to have CISCO Anyconnect and AEGIS Duo installed on your computer.

The following is a list of steps/requirments:

  1. Fill out the Adams Access Request Form.
  2. Send the Form to the appropriate office (Office of Regulatory Compliance or SHERC contact, etc)
  3. Read the document on Using the Adams Server.

The contact who is allowed to request and grant access will then send a Service Now ticket to the ARSA team for processing.
