Elk Creek, Idaho

meanders in Elk Creek:http://www.gly.uga.edu/railsback/FieldImages/ElkCreekMeanders.jpeg

Sand is deposited on the point bar in the inside of the bend where the water velocity is relatively slow and eroded on the outside bend at higher water velocity. In the crossovers between one bend and the other, the white water of riffles in the middle of the stream is visible. Greater water depth is located in the pools upstream and downstream of the riffles.
