1. In your own local environment, pick an organism (not including humans, redwing blackbirds, or Belding's ground squirrels) that displays sexual dimorphism. So that each person in the class reports on a different organism, list in the assignment database the name of the organism on which you will report. If you are the first person to list that organism, report on it. If someone else has already listed that organism, pick another. Do not duplicate organisms. Pick your organism early.

2. Describe the evidence of sexual dimorphism in morphology and behavior in this organism. If you use a reference to help you in your description, give the complete citation for the reference according to the format for citations on page 6 of the course pack.

3. Write two alternative hypotheses which might explain why this sexual dimorphism is present in the population.

4. Suggest an experiment to distinguish between your hypotheses.
