The castle is now a part of the national trust of England. The picture to the right shows my sons in front of the castle in 2003.
Robert Tattershall's castle was rebuilt by Ralph, Lord Cromwell two centuries after its initial construction. Two moats and baileys surrounded the red brick keep. The keep was four storeys high with crenellated parapets and octogonal corner towers. The keep was garrisoned for parliment during most of the English Civil War. The king's men captured and held it for only a brief time in the summer of 1643.
