Although cavalry was very important to the success of any military adventure, it was the infantry that could hold areas from hostile forces. Two primary types of infantry units were employed: pike and shot.
Pike and shot companies work in conjunction with each other to provide support and protection. Pikemen are especially useful in protecting from cavalry charges as shot companies reload and move.
