A. Total Geographical range:
Camissonia confertiflora is a regional endemic, known only from Grand Canyon National Park, specifically from the base of Vulcan's Throne in Toroweap Valley. The original 1952 collection cites the "east" base. Efforts to relocate the plant in 1981 and 1982 on the east side were unsuccessful, but the population was rediscovered on the southwestern or west base of Vulcan's Throne in 1991. On May 19th 2001 a survey of the southwestern slope of Vulcan's Throne was conducted, and the plants were successfully located. Given that the west side of Vulcan's Throne was readily accessible in 1952 by a two-track dirt road, while the east side is inaccessible owing to a steep escarpment of the Supai Sandstone "esplanade" caused by overflow from Toroweap Lake, first author Brian believes that "east" was a typographical or transcription error in the original citation.
