Research Interests

I am interested in understanding the dynamics of natural systems, although that may not be a surprise given that I've ended up in an ecosystem dynamics lab! Within this setting, my research interests involve understanding the amount and quality of carbon stored in permafrost soils as well as the fate of these soils and their carbon stores in a warmer Arctic. Perhaps a result of my geoscience background, I've found myself exploring the "recent" (past ~100,000 years) sediment record of permafrost soils to better constrain estimates of deeper (up to 30 meters below the surface) carbon stores as well as the potential of past warming events to improve our predictions of future changes.
