Research Interests

My research focuses on interactions and feedbacks between plant and soil communities and their environment and seeks to better understand the impacts of environmental changes on ecological processes and biogeochemical cycles. I combine traditional approaches of organismal, community, and ecosystem ecology to address three main questions:

  • How do global and environmental changes affect the cycling of carbon, nutrients, and trace metals?
  • How do plant and soil communities mediate the effects of global change on element cycles?
  • How do changes in biological systems feedback to global climate?
